Ellen and Cal's First Vacation is HERE!!!

Cal is taking his last portion of the bar, and I'm confident he is kicking some ass and taking some names!!

Tonight we will be ordering 1 relaxing evening for two(I won't even make him watch So You Think You Can Dance- I'm that supportive).

Then in the morning we fly to California. We plan on seeing all the sites, tasting delicious cuisine, and enjoying each other!! We also get a special surprise because we get to see one of my good friends/old co-workers KRISTA, her husband Jeff, and their cutest little man Aiden Pants. I'm so excited to see them too!! What a fun way to end the perfect weekend with Mr. Cal.


Note: Wanted to give a little shout out to two of my favorite people who are trekking back to the Lone Star State where they belong. Safe Travels to Jefty, Lauren and Sadie!! Can't wait to have you within reach again, roomie!

Happy Anniversary!

About 6 years ago- I "accidentally" kissed my best friend at a Mardi Gras themed Frat Party. As classy as that sounds, that was the start of one of the best thing that has ever happened to me. I fell in love with my best friend.

Later that year, while I was at Kickapoo Kamp for Girls establish 1925 I received some pretty special letters from that certain best friend, Cal (I specified because I have a lot of best friends). Then the next thing I new, I was back from Kamp, eating at Taco Cabana with my high school pals. I had already started to look at Mr. Cal a little differently and apparently he had too. Because on my drive home from taco c (as we trinitonians affectionately call it) Cal called me and asked me to be his lady friend.

6 years later here we are. We have experienced a lot- lived in the same city, lived in separate cities, graduated from graduate school and law school, become part of each other's family, had rough times, had good times, made plans, watch plans and dream be shattered, and then rearranged and rebuilt. But through it all I can't imagine a better person to experience it with. He's the most supportive, loving, and burly human out there and I'm so happy I get to call him My Best Friend, My Boyfriend, The Big Guy, Mr. Cal, Charles Alfred, Poo, Babycakes, Sugarplum Fairy Dust, and Cal. I'm so excited about the next few weeks, months, years as they will bring many changes and challenges for us.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to celebrate today together- as Cal's current girlfriend of the past two months (the BAR) is being kind of demanding and needy. Luckily that bitch will be gone soon and we will celebrate by drinking copious amount of wine, learning about Al Capone in prison, visiting a chocolate factory and eating seafood. Can't wait to share the time with you babes! Can't wait until I see you everyday!

EXCITED FOR THIS....

Thinking about the Big Guy who is working so hard right now for his/our future. I'm so proud of him and I can't wait to celebrate the end of law school and bar tests in San Fransisco.

I'm in the process of making an itinerary for us - since we are only there for the weekend, I want to make the most of our time!! Once we arrive on Friday morning, we are going to drive to the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay for lunch! I'm so excited to see this view while eating yummy seafood!

CUPCAKES

I have recently discovered an obsession with insanely expensive and delicious cupcakes.

They are so satisfying and I can't help but think of a yummy red velvet cupcake on this warm, calm thursday.

But instead, I will eat carrot and celery sticks-- strangely satisfying too. well sort of.

...these awesome earrings. I came across them in the store the other day. I just think they are so different and cool.

Now I just need to find a way to justify the purchase....

This past 4th of July, the weekend traveling continued on to Austin to surprise my best friend on her birthday! Well I thought it would be a surprise. Her wonderful husband Eric and I had been planning this surprise party for months. I thought it would be so neat to throw Sarah a party on her 25th Birthday because birthdays have always been a bit of a let down for Sarah. Since its July 5th often times people are with family or on vacation celebrating the 4th. So this year I thought if I gave lots of people plenty of notice we would have a good turn out for this wonderful gal!! Well we did have a successful party with delicious food and tons of fun. However, Sarah, or should we say Snoopy McSnooperton knew about the party since she saw her husband's facebook message from me about a month ago.

We had a wonderful time regardless of the unsuccessful surprise. Eric and I did a lot of sneaky work but we couldn't have pulled it off without the help of Sarah's friend, Adrienne. She was great!! Here are a few pics of the weekend. Cal came down, across, or whatever to spend the weekend with us too! We felt fortunate that he took a bit of a break before the super intense studying started. All in all i think it ended up being good for him. Now its big time studying for the big guy! I won't see him until we go to San Fransisco but I hope he knows I'm thinking about him constantly and I know that all the hard work he is putting in will be worth it. So proud of you babes!!!

And Mrs. Newton, I hope you had the best birthday ever! I was so glad to spend the weekend with you- after missing so many of your birthdays in our 14 years as friends! Love ya!
